#Trust30 online initiative - a 30-day writing challenge - Part 1 – 15 Minutes to Live

I have signed up for the #Trust30 online initiative - a 30-day writing challenge that encourages you to look within and trust yourself. The idea is to write something everyday, based on the prompts sent by inspiring thought-leaders.
See the following site for more details:  http://ralphwaldoemerson.me/prompts
I challenge you to sign up and be as spontaneous as possible.

Here is the first prompt and my first effort.

We are afraid of truth, afraid of fortune, afraid of death, and afraid of each other. Our age yields no great and perfect persons. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
You just discovered you have fifteen minutes to live.
1. Set a timer for fifteen minutes.
2. Write the story that has to be written.

15 minutes - Andrew Cairns
15 minutes is not a long time. If given the choice perhaps most of us would do something different than writing: praying, meditating, reflecting on our past, saying goodbye to loved ones...
What wisdom or lessons learned can be condensed into a short text?
If life has taught me anything, it's that mentalities can be changed, with difficulty, but they can be changed.
The path that you are following through life may seem traced out, but you always have choices, branches on the path be they choice of career, partner, religion... how you spend your time, how you interact with others, what you think about.
Has the path which I have chosen been the best path? Career choice perhaps overly influenced by others - choose something where you'll be able to have a well paid job, stability.
First marriage ended in divorce after 8 years together. Perhaps didn't listen enough to the advice of others, or not the right advice from the right people.
Second marriage still going strong after almost 2 years, and we have been blessed with a beautiful little girl.
If we can pass on anything to future generations, it's to choose the straight path, the deen (as defined by Islam); universally the good path of peace and respect of yourself and others. Reduce the ego and look to help others.
